Solano County Sheriff-Coroner Gary Stanton to Seek Re-election
Solano County Sheriff
Gary Stanton today announced that he will seek re-election to the Office of Sheriff-Coroner in the June, 2010 election. Sheriff Stanton, currently in his 9th year of service as the Sheriff-Coroner
of Solano
County, will complete his second term of office as the elected Sheriff-Coroner
on December 31, 2010.
Gary Stanton first
entered the profession of law enforcement on November 1, 1972 as a Deputy Sheriff for the County of Solano. During his long law enforcement career Gary Stanton has steadily progressed his career, holding numerous
supervisory and management positions, and was appointed Sheriff-Coroner by the Solano County Board of Supervisors on May 11,
2001. Sheriff Stanton was elected to his first term of office on March 5, 2002 and was re-elected Sheriff-Coroner on November
7, 2006.
Sheriff Stanton oversees
a public safety department consisting of nearly 500 employees with an annual budget of $81 million. The Sheriff manages two jails providing for the health and safety needs of nearly 1,200 prisoners daily,
oversees the Coroner function and manages the Solano County Office of Emergency Services. In recent years the Solano County
Sheriff’s Office has implemented many successful public safety programs, the success of which Sheriff Stanton attributes
to the quality and dedication of his staff.
Sheriff Stanton is
a life-long resident of Solano County, he is a member of several public safety and community organizations, and resides in
the City of Dixon with Claudia, his wife of 31 years.
